One of my favorite times of the year is Mabon. It is the autumnal equinox; when the earth holds equal amounts of light and dark. We enter into Libra's balancing act.

Mabon marks the Second Harvest, the end of the grain harvest (which begun at Lughnasadh), and rests on the Autumn Equinox. The Equinox mirrors dwindling of life(and eventual progression to rebirth), as well as the struggle for balance; day and night are equal for a single day (see http://www.geocities.com/CollegePark/4885/mabon.html).

It is also "Michaelmas", the medieval pagans celebration for AA Michael. Now if your not familiar with how awesome Michael is, I suggest you get in contact with him right away. He holds the energy of the spiritual warrior; very strong, loving, and immediate security comes your way when you seek out his presence. I call on him whenver I get frustrated with the daily have-to's. AA Michael is where it is at, I'm telling you.

So, needless to say, I get real exicted for this day of autumal season of bliss to come around again.

We are mourning the beauty of the dwindling sunlight.
The night is conquering the day.
Persephone is returning the underworld to reunite with Hades once more.

Anselm Kiefer is a totally cool artist. We went to the Hirchorn yesterday and caught the last day of his exhibit. At first, everything seems dark, splotchy, and sad, but soon your eyes can adjust to a beautiful landscape. I love his depiction of water movement and use of angelic imagery. He loves books, huge boulders, stones, and snakes. Barren landscapes which speak of strength and peacefulness come alive and your suddenly drawn in and emotions pour forth. Very cool. I resonated to his stuff immediately.

Here are some of my favs:

NOTE: Unfortunately, I am not able to find my favorite one about the higher order of angels with a 3D seagull flying out over a beach landscape. That one moved me to no end.

I am navigating in new territory lately; hobbies, interests are taking a sharp quick left into unchartered lands. I wish I could find an image that could possibly show this visually, but I'll have to think about that a little harder. For now, I will post other things that have been on my mind:

"I know that you burn, for your Water Spirit" The Dolphin Song

Why is my attention being turned towards Maui?
It's rather intriguing to me to think about the ocean lately.
The deep mystery it holds. Just like tonight's deep harvest moon. It was full and penetrative. Its subconscious reflective energy went straight through my heart chakra while driving down Rt. 29. Oh, earthly secrets. The grand illusion. Have we really chosen love?
