There are a lot of people who live every day in a blank existence. They weather the storms of life by “hunkering down” - complacent to be right where they are. Many cannot even be fazed by whistling winds, uprooted trees, or skin-stinging rain! They seem to be just numb and do not feel the changes around them. Even in their spiritual lives, they find themselves in a state of complacency. They think, “Everything is just like it is, in the right place…so be it.” There is no drive or desire to change ANYTHING! They are merely content just to leave everything to happenstance. There is no sense of concern about what happens in the world around them, and as long as “highly charged events” in life are moved along as quickly as possible without their participation well, then life is “swell and dandy!”
They feed off the status quo (whatever that is). They have no ambition to better themselves and they will do as little as possible to maintain the quiet and uneventful life that they have stumbled upon. One needs to be very careful not to fall into the trap of being “pathetically complacent”. Complacency is defined as being somewhat satisfied. There is no vision quest, no hunger or thirst for anything, including the deeper knowledge of the reality and nature of being. May I never be lulled to sleep by any means; for to be caught asleep by the enemy could prove harmful, if not fatal! Abiding by the status quo means that there is little or no movement in life, and this kind of living is extremely detrimental one’s health and well-being.
Things that do not move or gain no ground have very little impact on the world around them. Water that does not move becomes stagnant. A stone that does not roll gathers NO moss. Teeth that are not brushed breed cavities and plaque. Blood that is not pumped separates and coagulates. The same goes for people. Humans who do not move, become reclusive and ineffective as world-changers. There is a clarion call sounding now within the human condition to go, to move, to carry, to help, to serve, to send, to witness, to love in active faith. And where the hell are these complacent antfuckers today on election day? Looking forward to tomorrow’s non-eventful hum-dum daily grind. Oh, sure they are voting, but... with no passion!
As members of the human race we should be pressing on – not sitting down and warming seats. The act of being complacent is complicit, which is a suspicious act or an unlawful doing. Doing nothing to better your world is to truly sit and rot. I heard someone say one time, “I’d rather wear out than rust out.” We should want to run the race before us, not sit on the sidelines and do nothing! Those on the sidelines will sadly never receive the goal or the prize or even the joy that arises from participating. Sometimes we allow the “letting go” statement to overshadow the nature and spiritual law of our being in physical bodies. It is a gift to participate in life as a co-creator don’t cha know!
When someone asks me of the conditions and status of my surroundings, may I be able to say that things are happening, energy is moving within and around me. I am not going to sit and wait for things to blow by! No Way, Jose! I for one cannot settle for the status quo, in fact I rage against it. I committed myself to a life worth living; to not sit on my ass and watch the signs and wonders pass me by. My choice is to not become complacent on my path or to be dormant in my influence. I choose to be powerful through my individual fire of desires and passions. I want to ignite myself into my own calling to live an active life. I gather my strength from the collective flow and let it pulsate through me. I rise to meet the challenges before me. And for those whose chant “may everything be just like it has been” well, your long awaited apocalypse has already happened and you are just too dead asleep to wake up to blasting trumpets! Better luck next time around!!!
As Merlin the sorcerer, may I be the one to respond to my unchanging surroundings and agitate the waters so that my efforts may ripple out into the world around me.
I call upon the spirit of the Magnus today! AlAKAZAM!
